Perfect Steak

Intro

I love steak but on the rare occasions I’ve cooked it I’ve made a hash of it! This method should produce great results every time!

Ingredients

  • Steak cut of choice (Sirloin for me)
  • Sea salt
  • Cracked black pepper
  • Olive oil

Utensils

  • Frying Pan

Method

  1. Remove your steaks from the fridge at least one hour before cooking to allow the meat to come up to room temperature without excessive heating. This will ensure even cooking throughout otherwise you could end up with an under cooked centre as the heat takes longer to cook the cold meat (trust me, I know).
  2. Heat a frying pan to ensure it’s hot before cooking
  3. Rub your steak with olive oil, salt and pepper for seasoning to taste. The oil helps keep the juice and heat in the meat for that tender taste.
  4. Cook for 6 minutes for medium-rare turning every minute. For medium cook for a further minute. If you want it cooked more than that then fill your boots, but you will be impacting the texture if you do. These timings are dependant on the meat being at room temperature and your frying pan being hot before cooking.
  5. Once cooked leave to settle in a dish for a minute. The meat will continue to cook and some of the juices will run.
